BPOTY 2012

Black + White Photographer of the Year 2012

The Black + White Photographer of the Year award has been running since 2006 and has become a highly prestigious international event with more than 3,500 entries from 80 countries in 2011.
The award celebrates contemporary black and white photography across the genres of reportage, portraiture, still life and landscape, with a special award for the Young Black + White Photographer of the Year.

The judging panel is selected from working experts in the field – photographers, printers, curators – and, of course, Liz Roberts, Editor of B+W Photography magazine.

Liz Roberts commented, “We are delighted to have Leica as our media partner and are particularly thrilled to be offering the Leica M Monochrom as the main prize, reinforcing the growing power of black & white photography.”

Full details about the competition can be found at: http://www.bpoty.com/

With the increasing popularity of monochrome photography, sales of B+W Photography magazine – both in print form and as an app – have reached 36 countries, with highest sales outside the UK in USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy and Norway. This year, the publisher expects record submissions to the competition.
