Leica announces Rangemaster CRF 1600-B with integrated ballistic system

09/03/2012

Leica Camera AG, pioneer of the laser rangefinder for 20 years, has today announced the Rangemaster CRF 1600-B, a compact laser rangefinder with an integrated ballistic system.

Leica announces Rangemaster CRF 1600-B with integrated ballistic system

Determination of the correct sighting point is simpler and more accurate than ever before, with the CRF 1600-B’s newly developed ballistic function: ABC™ (Advanced Ballistic Compensation). The rangefinder’s high-precision, integrated ballistic calculator calls up a multitude of stored data, immediately analyses the ballistic parameters and, with a single push of a button, delivers precise details of the required compensation for the sighting point.

In addition to the distance, parameters such as the angle of declination, temperature and barometric pressure are also considered in the calculation of the ballistic curve. In addition to the data on calibre and charge stored in the system, the Leica Rangemaster CRF 1600-B quickly and practically displays all the important parameters required for absolute precision, even at long distances.

The ABC™ ballistic system unites all field sports needs in one function and delivers the relevant details for all ballistics applications. For users who use classic reticles in their riflescopes, the Leica Rangemaster CRF 1600-B displays the hold-over value in centimetres or inches, in addition to the measured distance. For those using a ballistic reticle, the read-out provides the essential information regarding the level terrain distance – taking into consideration the angle, temperature and barometric pressure. Users who apply their point of impact correction in clicks with their fast reticle adjustment can also display the number of clicks required. In this way, the CRF 1600-B can be perfectly adapted to every user’s individual needs, and delivers optimum results in every situation, whichever equipment and ammunition is used. Furthermore, the innovative technology and clear and simple display ensure easy and intuitive handling.

In addition to its rangefinding accuracy, the Leica Rangemaster CRF 1600-B is also distinguished by its high-performance optical system. The wide field of view makes target identification fast and easy. The 7× magnification of the CRF 1600-B ensures a very bright and steady view and extreme dependability, even in poor light and limited visibility. It measures distances from 10.9 yds/10 m to approximately1,600 yds/1,500 m with absolute precision – and in less than 0.9 seconds. Thanks to its automatic brightness correction, the LED display shows calculated values with optimum brightness and clarity under any conditions.

The design and handling of the new rangefinder have been perfectly adapted to the needs of its users. With its compact and ergonomic form and a weight of only 230 grams, the instrument can be held with ease in either hand. The rugged resilience of the Leica CRF 1600-B is guaranteed by its magnesium chassis and a carbon fibre-reinforced body. The Leica AquaDura™ coating of the external lens surfaces ensures that dirt and water simply roll off and makes the glass particularly easy to clean. Built-in dioptre compensation and a special rubber eyecup also make the Rangemaster ideal for people wearing glasses.

Since the launch of the first Leica Rangemaster in 2000, Leica has consistently set new standards in this technology category, and is currently the market leader in the premium binocular rangefinder and monocular segments.
